ALL girls will be nervous and very self-conscious on the show day. You all will be secretly checking each other out: who has better abs, bum, shoulders. Who is the prettiest and the most confident. But guess what? Your opinion doesn't matter as it is very subjective and it is up to the judges. Be friendly with others backstage. If someone is panicking about losing their lipstick or hairspray - offer yours. If someone has their bikini all twisted - say something. Don't be a b*tch. Bikini karma is real :) Some girls will be more talkative than others, not because they're mean but because everyone deals with nerves in different ways. Stay in your zone with headphones in - if that keeps you calm and focused, or talk to others if you're more outgoing. Everything goes, as long as you're feeling comfortable.
Lose beautifully. Every single winner has a few losses under their belt.
People remember sour losers, and so do the judges. Be happy when someone else wins and give them praise. Do not complain after the show or worse - make public comments about the winner, especially on social media. Straight after the show you will be more upset than necessary as you'll be dehydrated, hungry and emotional. Walk away with your head up and be proud of what you've achieved. And when you recieve the show day photos and videos - identify areas to improve on. Maybe your physique and condition were better or equal to the winner, BUT is there something else you could've done better? As you know, bikini category is very subjective, it is about the 'overall package'. Perhaps you could've had better posing, stage presence, or more confidence walking in high heels? Are you happy with how your hair and make up looked? Analyse yourself, make notes and come back with an improved package next time.
There's nothing better than watching competitors who look genuinely happy on stage. Smile, think happy thoughts and simply have fun! Show off that body you've worked so hard on. Your photos will be fantastic too! It is such a special day - a celebration of your determination, persistence and discipline. You should feel like a queen with all the glam. If you have family and friends attending, make it worth their while :) If you're alone, think of entertaining the audience and the judges. Be someone who has sparkles in their eyes and they will remember you. Yes it is a competition, but don't take it too seriously on the show day. Simply do your best for those short few minutes and shine!!!
BONUS TIP: take as many photos and videos as you can, until your phone and camera run out of memory. Because there will never be enough, trust me! x
